BIADO DELIGHTED TO SECURE THIRD CONSECUTIVE REYES CUP APPEARANCE

Carlo Biado has expressed his delight after qualifying for the Reyes Cup for a third consecutive year, with the Filipino star ready to represent Team Asia once again on home soil.

The two-time World Pool Champion secured his place in Team Asia as the highest-ranked Filipino on the World Nineball Tour rankings, continuing his ever-present record at the Reyes Cup.

“I’m very happy that I’ve qualified for the upcoming Reyes Cup this year for the third time,” said Biado. “It’s amazing and I’m excited.”

For Biado, another opportunity to represent the Philippines carries particular significance, especially with the strength and depth of talent that continues to emerge from his home country.

He said: “For me, it’s important, for the Filipino fans and for all the fans of the Reyes Cup. I’m so excited because here we go again.

“I feel lucky that I qualified for this event because there are a lot of top Filipino players who can play in the Reyes Cup.”

Biado will once again link up with Team Asia captain Francisco Bustamante, with the pair sharing a relationship that extends well beyond the arena.

Bustamante, one of the most decorated players in the history of Filipino pool, is also Biado’s godfather, giving the two-time world champion even more reason to look forward to another Reyes Cup campaign under his leadership.

“I’m excited because he’s our team captain and he’s my godfather,” said Biado.

“We know each other and we know how he motivates us in Team Asia. I’m excited to be with him.”

The Reyes Cup also carries a deeper meaning for Biado through its connection to Filipino great Efren Reyes.

Biado spoke warmly about the influence Reyes has had on his career and the significance of continuing his legacy through Team Asia.

“I call him Father Efren Reyes,” he said. “It’s a big impact for me and for Team Asia that his legacy will continue.

“I’m happy that Efren Reyes is one of my inspirations.”

Biado has been part of Team Asia throughout the first two editions of the Reyes Cup and will now return for a third attempt to help the side continue its success.

However, he is expecting another demanding contest against Team Rest of the World and is already turning his attention towards preparing for the challenge.

“I think this year is going to be tough,” said Biado. “I think this year is different. It’s going to be a tough match.

“I will give all my best for Team Asia and I want to prepare for this event. It’s going to be fun and exciting.”

With the Reyes Cup once again bringing the world’s leading players to the Philippines, Biado finished with a message to the supporters preparing to get behind Team Asia.

“To all my fans in the Philippines and all over the world, I hope you watch this year’s Reyes Cup.

“I’m sure you’re excited to watch Team Rest of the World and Team Asia.”

The third edition of the Reyes Cup will take place from 15–18 October at Makati Coliseum, with Team Asia returning as back-to-back champions to defend their title against Team Rest of the World.
